The year it all changed

In 2014, we had $500 remaining from the party budget so we donated the money to the Texas Children Hospital. In 2015, we had $1000 and donated the money to Craig Biggio's Sunshine Kids. TCH and Sunshine Kids receive millions of dollars of donations each year. After we made the donation, we realized the $1000 isn't really having an impact like we'd like.

At that point we decided to focus on one family a year. Surprising a family with a few thousand dollars had the impact we were looking for. That year set Extra Innings in motion.
